All iSockits are handmade by Blythe King and George Hardy, two underemployed residents of Breaux Bridge, Louisiana.

As graduate students at the University of Colorado, we were constantly packing and unpacking our laptops - shoving them into bookbags along with all of our other materials, and pulling them out again at the library. Over time, our computers began to develop deep scratches from everyday use. After trying several commercially available "scratch removers," we came to the realization that the damage was permanent.

When we purchased our new iBook, we immediately fashioned a padded cover to protect our investment. We found the cover to be useful not only as a protective case, but also as a comfortable lap rest that absorbed some of the heat from the bottom of the computer.

We liked our little sock so much, that we decided to try to sell some of them on eBay. Within two weeks, our entire first run of 50 covers had sold out, and iSockit was born.
